BIOinterface Conference 2027!
At the Crossroads of Biology, Materials, and Interface Science
BIOinterface is a new international conference dedicated to research at the interface of biology, materials science, chemistry, physics, engineering, and computational science.
For its inaugural edition, BIOinterface Conference will bring together researchers from complementary scientific communities to share their latest discoveries, exchange ideas, and foster new interdisciplinary collaborations. The conference will provide a stimulating forum for advancing our understanding of biological phenomena at interfaces and exploring their potential in fields such as biomaterials, tissue engineering, biofunctional surfaces, antimicrobial strategies, and engineered living materials.
The scientific programme will focus on five main themes:
- Advanced Instrumentation and Interface Engineering
- Biofunctional Organic Surfaces for Cell Growth and Control
- Artificial Intelligence and Multiscale Modeling for Biointerfaces
- Microbial Interfaces: Growth, Antimicrobial Strategies, and Engineered Living Materials
- Surface Structure–Property Relationships in Mammalian Cell and Biomaterial Interactions
A dedicated Spring School day
A full day will be dedicated to a Spring School designed for Master’s students, PhD candidates, early-career researchers, and scientists wishing to discover or broaden their knowledge of biointerface-related challenges. This training day will provide an interdisciplinary introduction to the key concepts, methods, and scientific questions involved in the study of biointerfaces. It will cover the entire experimental pathway, from surface design, modification, and functionalization to the analysis and characterization of how surface properties influence the behaviour and fate of biological systems.
Plenary and invited lectures, contributed talks, poster sessions, and dedicated networking opportunities will showcase fundamental, methodological, and applied research. Particular attention will be given to innovative approaches that connect multiple scales of investigation, from molecular interactions to cellular, microbial, and tissue-level responses.
Through this first edition, the organizing committee aims to establish a dynamic, inclusive, and long-lasting international scientific event that will grow and evolve in the years ahead. Established researchers, early-career scientists, engineers, and innovation stakeholders are warmly invited to help shape this new interdisciplinary community.
Join us in Nancy from March 22 to 26, 2027, for the inaugural edition of BIOinterface Conference and help shape the future of biointerfaces.
